Review of Corey Rudl & the Internet Marketing Center

Where to start with this guy? Corey Rudl might be one of the youngest, most prolific Internet marketers out there. He has an 11-person company that has gross revenue of over 5.2 million dollars. He is also one of the single most referenced resource on the internet (Right up there with Ken Envoy). His strength- Testing marketing strategies, multiple streams of income, and back-end sales.

Corey got started in the automotive business by self-publishing a car secrets book.  At first, it bombed when he tried to sell it via the newspapers and word of mouth advertising.  A friend of his introduced him to the web and he then sold $140,00 net revenue of his book in a single year.  The rest is history.

Corey may not be the pioneer of automated web business, but I think he is one of the most sophisticated.  One of the keys to his success has been automating the education, sales and fulfillment of his business by developing software to take care of information requests, customer service, newsletter subscription and follow-up and e-commerce.

He believes in streamlined small and medium sized business that can adjust quickly to new market conditions and field new advertising and products in as little as 72 hours.

Here’s an interesting tid bit about his methodology.  Corey doesn’t think that search engines are the best way to get customers.  He likes to methodically develop an audience through news groups, on-line and off-line classified ads, joint venturing and newsletters.  That’s not to say that he doesn’t use search engines, he most certainly does.  But he will be the first one to say that most of his 6,000,000-web visitors a year come from his alternate methods of advertising.

Corey also keeps a customer and markets to them for as long as he possibly can- of his 5.2 million in revenue, almost 50% of that is from back-end sales.  He knows how to follow up and he does it automatically with his plethora of software.

Here's what you get when you order his course, Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet...

2 binders with over 600 pages each of information.  You also get 2 CD-ROMs that have supplemental materials.  I hate to say this, but there is SO much information contained in Corey’s manual that I could devote an entire web site to his stuff alone.   Someday, I may do that, but for now, let me hit the high points.

Corey Rudl covers everything short of how to spend the money that you could make by applying his techniques.  While he doesn’t cover some of the basics like how to set up your home office like Matt Gagnon does, it doesn’t detract from the core meaty bits of info at all.  Subjects covered include:

1)      How to find hot new products and services.

2)      Writing Ad copy that sells.

3)      How to organize your web site.

4)      Following up with e-mail offers

5)      Automating your marketing with Auto responders.

6)      How to Joint Venture (Complete with sample legal documents)

7)      Establishing links with non-competitive sites

8)      How to start an Affiliate program

9)      And about 300 other things…

Corey doesn’t just touch on the material; he dissects it down to the fundamentals.  He includes case studies of his students as well as his own experiences, both the success and failures.  In his manual are numerous links where you can surf to and see exactly how he implements some of his techniques.

Overall, the scope of his materials is breath taking and I can’t ever imagine being able to put such a product on the market.  I’m just too lazy!  :)

Can it help you?  Absolutely.  It covers just about every technique that I have read in other systems and adds a ton more-A bunch of which I have tried.  I was very pleased with his information about generating traffic from newsgroups and the resource links that he offers about marketing and web services is stealer.

But…(People tell me that when they get to the “But” part of my reviews, the hair on the back of their neck stands up.  Think about how the person who’s system that I am reviewing must feel…)

Corey’s information, by the sheer nature of its comprehensive coverage, can be almost overwhelming.  I’ve read a ton of systems and have done many reviews and I have to say that the temptation to jump straight into his advance materials was too tempting to resist!  As soon as I did, I regretted it.  There are simply too many techniques to try out and frankly, they are not listed in any type of “Do this first, then do this, now do this” kind of manner.

Remember, Corey is making 5 million dollars a year.  I still shake my head in reverence and awe at the thought.  So, he knows these systems and can explain them thoroughly in his sleep.  For me, the above average BizOp junkie, I had to force myself to absorb them slowly.  You should too.

Is this a bad thing? No, not at all.  I just want to caution those who are just getting their feet we to take it slowly.  And if that is the one criticism that I have to offer Corey Rudl, it’s that his manual includes TOO much information and not enough step-by-step strategies that include your WHOLE business machine.

Most people who know that they should be trying to start a business on the web want to know exactly how to do it.  They want to know which products to sell, how much to charge, where to advertise, where to host your site, which software to use to build it, which merchant account company to use, etc.

Corey’s system will teach you all of these things, but it will educate you so completely that your actually KNOW how to choose those elements yourself.  The trouble is, you need to learn, not just read, but also UNDERSTAND the techniques that he writes about.  And that, folks, can be a challenge.  People often say that his course could replace all of the marketing classes that they took in college.  I have to say that they are probably right.  Again, in order for all of this information to be of use, you need to absorb it.

But, keep in mind that Corey does make half of his living by back-ending his customers with follow-up offers.  His manual is a good example of how he does this, so try not to get offended if you feel like your being sold to every few dozen pages.  If anything, think about how he makes you want ALL of the products he is offering and how to apply that to your own back-end marketing.

Over all, Coery Rudl’s Internet Marketing Center gets a thumbs up.
