Using Internet Marketing to help your Ecommerce Business flourish

Sell Online with a Yahoo Store          Newsletter Archive

I Hate Internet Marketing.

I’m genuinely looking forward to all of the flack I’ll get for this newsletter. :)

Now, before you race down to the end of this newsletter and hit the “Unsubscribe Button”, give me a few minutes to clarify my position.

The process of Internet marketing allows Audrey and I to do something that we want :

Control and serve our own financial needs and destiny.  Internet Marketing does that by providing a set of procedures and techniques that we follow systematically that causes a customer to give us their money for the goods that we have.

That’s the “Means to an End”.

But along the way, we knew that we are such work-aholics that our business had to let us do something that we were absolutely jazzed about doing, or we’d get sick of it and leave it to rot.

That’s why I can Hate Internet Marketing, and still LOVE my little 2-person Home Based Internet Business.

Internet Marketing is a System.  It’s a set of procedures.  It can be calculated, counted, quantified, measured and analyzed.  And because it’s such a straightforward process, it gives me the opportunity to concentrate on widgets that I’m Crazy-Happy to sell.

I mean, take A2Armory… We sell Swords from one of our Favorite Movies of all time – Highlander.  I OWN the Macleod Sword.  I can hold it in my hand, swing it around in my back yard, and if push comes to shove, make about $50.00 profit when Somebody else who is as nuts about the film as I am, wants it for themselves.

I get to sell COOL STUFF!

Because I know how to Market On the Internet.

We have an affiliate web site that sells Light Saber Replicas!!!  When I was 8, my dad and I were 2nd in line for the opening day of Star Wars.  That film is one of the reasons why I got into the movie business, despite George Lucas’ hair-do.  And now, when a visitor gets to our affiliate web site, they can choose from Obi-wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, or Qui Gon Jin’s personal defense products.

We can make income from what was once a fantasy of mine because we know about Internet marketing.

Audrey is starting an affiliate site that will co-exist with a new Yahoo! Store of ours.  We’ll be offering movie memorabilia from Harry Potter.

When’s the last time your job asked you to write a fun little paper about “Muggles” (for the uninitiated, it means non-magic folks)?

Audrey and I import Replica Arms and Armor from overseas.  The company that we work with actually makes custom Swords as part of their services.  I was up late 3 weeks ago, using CAD design software to create a 3-D model of a custom Sword that we want to market under the A Squared Armory Brand Name.

Honestly, how often does one get to do that?

Here’s my point.

You’ve got be doing or selling something that you LOVE!

You’ve got to find your niche!  You need to dig deep down inside of yourself and pull out a plan for making money in an industry that you are passionate about!

I don’t care if it’s model trains, trading cards, used beer cans, grass-skiing, or on-line adventure games!

Yes, you need to understand Internet Marketing.  But, make that part of your business a reflex rather than a thought.

Internet Marketing is JUST a system.  It’s simply a set of procedures that you must follow.  It’s been done successfully by thousands of people who have made Millions of dollars, and there are some very honest and stand-up folks that are willing to share their system with

you.

You can get really good at it by practicing it until it comes naturally and easily. And because it’s not subjective Art, or the Lottery, or some other mystic ritual, it can be copied, repeated, and expanded.

What separates the wheat from the chaff is how vigorously you pursue your passion.

The fun, the joy, the success comes when you find your niche, and plug it into your Internet marketing strategy. When you have a passion about your product, you’ll find that getting it to market is exciting and lucrative, not just a means to an end.

And that’s how the Mega Successful survive, and prosper!  They treat

Internet marketing like you might treat brushing your teeth:  You have to do it in order to have folks be apart of your life:  But once your teeth are clean, you can chat it up to your hearts content!

Use Internet marketing to get folks to visit you!  But then draw them into your space with your passionate ramblings about your product!

YES, you can do it. I'm just a schlub who followed good advice and took some chances and I'm pretty happy with the result.

I started part time, I followed my passions, and guess what?  It worked out.

And you know what? It is within your grasp. You don't need a lot of money to do this.  You don't even need a lot of time. But...

You need gumption.  You’ve got to believe, in you, your product, and your chances! You’ve gotta be in a Niche that you love so much that your license plate says so. And because you love it so much, it will change your attitude.  And with the correct attitude, you’ll find achieving success much easier!

That's right...Even with the right information and the right foundation, many people have still failed in their online ventures just because they did not develop the right attitude. An old statement that comes to mind right now for me is "Your Attitude determines your Altitude."

Yes, you can hate Internet marketing.  I won’t tell anyone.  But love your business and your products so much that Internet marketing becomes just a thing that you do to fulfill your dreams.

Need some help Finding your niche?

A fellow Yahoo! Store Profits reader has taken Niche Finding to the nth degree.  He wanted to speed up his Supply and Demand research to the point that he could evaluate a product’s potential in the market place with a few clicks.  He told me that he had so many ideas about what to market, that he didn’t think that he could cover them all in any sort of reasonable amount of time, so he took action.

Drawing upon some programming skills, he created a Macro that plugs into Microsoft Excel.  This Macro actually allows you to automatically fetch several different keywords, and their Supply and Demand Information from Overture, Yahoo! SearchWho, Google and Ebay!

You can input 25 potential product ideas at a time, then this awesome little software runs out to the internet and returns a list of supply and demand numbers right into your spreadsheet!

You can save the spreadsheet or print it out for immediate analysis, and there is no limit to the number of product or KEYWORD searches that you can gather information for.

As a purveyor of both Yahoo! Stores and Ebay auctions, I was really impressed with the ability of this little gem to pull relevant data as fast and as accurately as it did.  I could check the competition for a product in Ebay and Yahoo at the same time, and because I often use ebay auctions to drive customers to my Yahoo! Stores, the dual functionality of this product is an incredible time saver.

It’s called the Market Matrix. Totally appropriate title! With a few clicks, it will give you 95% of the competitive intelligence that you’ll need to make a decision – one that’s based on your passion.

Now, I want to be straight with you.  I have 3 other programs that do what Jon’s Market Matrix program does.

But, I need to use each one of them individually and then compile the results into my own spreadsheet.  And just one of those deep crawling bits of software cost me $170.  And all it crawls is ebay…

Please understand: Jon is a Yahoo! Store Profits Owner, he’s an affiliate of YSP, and he knows the material of YSP inside and out.  He knows the needs of a Yahoo! Store owner, and he also understands Internet marketing.  He created this tool specifically for folks that want to reduce time consuming research into something that’s fast, enjoyable, and ultimately profitable.

But what I think is the most nifty aspect about Jon is his attitude.  Like Audrey and I, he doesn’t think that lack of information should stand in the way of success.  He’s making The Market Matrix is totally affordable!  You should see this guy’s emails to me!  When he first sent me a beta version of his program, all he would ask is “Does this help?  Is this the best way to present the information?  Do you think I should change this to make it easier to use?”.  He never asked about anything other than how he could help an Internet Business Owner streamline their efforts, save time, and be effective in the marketplace.

Check out the Market Matrix.
