Dr. Ken Evoy presides over a not-so-mini marketing empire that is
home to his “Make Your______ Sell!”
line of marketing training and knowledge products.
His other products include “Make Your Words Sell”, “Make Your Price Sell!’ “ Make Your Knowledge Sell”, “Make Your Net Auctions Sell”, and his new template designed web site generator product, “Site Build-IT!”
MYSS (Make Your
Site Sell) is the flagship product. It is delivered in an
Electronic PDF file at a price point under $40.
One of Ken Evoy’s
sales closing techniques is to offer 5 or 7 day “Intensive” courses that
are practically mini products in their own right. For example, if
you are interested in affiliate marketing, Ken Evoys Affiliate Masters
course is sent to you in 5 daily emails that have specific action plans
for you to execute each day. By the end of the course, if you
follow his advice, you will have done...well…something. For most
of the tire kickers, probably nothing….
The Intensive
courses are really pretty spectacular for their price-FREE! And
frankly, as I purchased and started to make notes for my reviews of Ken
Evoys products, I came to the conclusion that each little intensive
course is essentially a synopsis of the full course which you can
purchase.
Is that a good
thing? OH MY GOD YES! You see, if you want to test drive one
of his full-blow products without having to give him your credit card,
this is one way to do it. Let me clarify…The intensives' contain
the same concepts as his larger products, but they are no where near as
through as the full-blown Site Sell products.
Ken Evoy’s
reputation among other Internet marketers is legendary and his is very
well regarded. Actually being an Internet marketer is only the
CURRENT evolutionary form of Dr. Evoy, having already successfully
practiced medicine and developed a line of toys. Yes, Toys.
Toys for which he still receives a royalty check.
Ken is probably a
lot of fun to have at parties…
Ken’s first foray
into Internet product marketing began with a product called Penny Gold.
Penny Gold was an informational-analysis system for folks who wanted to
trade penny stocks. Talk about NICHE product! Not only did
Ken successfully market this product to an admittedly narrow
demographic, he limited the number of products to 1000, raising the
price at pre-determined increments until it sold for nearly $1000 a
system.
Since then, Dr.
Evoy has woven this niche marketing theme into all of his marketing
teachings. He does NOT believe in the “Flea Market Approach”, but
suggests that you sell something that you are BOTH knowledgeable and
passionate about.
No Sweat, right?
It’s interesting
how the systems that I buy to review keep getting larger and more
complete. It might be that as I get more experienced at evaluating these
systems and writing the reviews, I’m getting a little bit more adept at
seeing THROUGH the Authors sales message. It can be hard sometimes to
stay objective, because Boy can these guys write COPY! Ken Evoys
Make Your Site Sell was the 6th web marketing/work at home
system that I reviewed for the express purpose of being on this web site
(This did not include all of my previous experience with the scams and
money pits).
It means that by
that time, I had probably read about 20,000 pages of work at home
material, and about 7500 more expressly for the purpose of review.
What's my point? Just that in terms of sheer enjoyment, Ken ranks
up there around number 1. Keep in mind, I have a very quirky sense
of humor and Ken’s style may or may not appeal to you. Having said
that, style or not, his information will inspire and motivate you.
By the time you
complete your reading of MYSS, your head will be a whirlwind of ideas
and possibilities supported by some of the best marketing methodologies
and resources on the web today.
So much for being
subjective…. Don’t worry though, as always let me give you the
facts…then you decide.
MYSS covers just
about every aspect and tool for finding, developing, marketing, selling
and fulfilling a product that you could need to start a home based web
business (HBWB…think it will catch on?)
Okay, so what?
Don’t they all do that?
Well, the good
systems that I review DO, to one degree or another. So what stood out
about Ken Evoys system? What is HIS unique selling
proposition? For starters, Ken teaches you how to test an audience
to see if there is a market for a product that you are thinking about
selling. And guess what…he actually does it mathematically!
That’s right! No vague theory, no tea leaves or magic 8-balls.
Spreadsheets and databases baby!
Secondly, Dr.
Evoy believes in over-delivering on the products that he offers and
suggest that you should too. Easier said that done, right?
When I read that, all I could think about was how much more work
“Over-delivering” on MY product would require. In one sense, I was
right, but in my short sightedness, I didn’t realize that
over-delivering on a product doesn’t have to be that hard.
In fact, Ken
gives you suggestions…many, many suggestions about how to source value
added products, creating your own up sells and using your own content to
increase your close rate and provide some real value to your product all
while fostering the goodwill of a (potentially) life long customer.
In essence and in practical terms, Ken describes the process so
effectively that “Over-Delivering” no only becomes a “Must-Do”- but a
“No Brainier” as well.
MYSS reveals
Ken’s method of statistical marketing analysis. Now before you
start to Glaze over and wonder what the heck statistical analysis has to
do with HBWB, rest assured that the explanation that follows may make
the difference between working at home or working for the man.
Ken Evoy’s
statistical method is by far the most comprehensive, effective and
EXECUTABLE method of determining the viability of a product that I have
come across. Before you spend a dime on purchasing, manufacturing
or selling any product, you must apply this method to your core
business.
Dr. Evoy contends
that the very best and most successful marketers don’t simply start to
sell a product just because they like it. Quite the opposite.
They find a need and fill it. Let me say that again, "They Find a
Need and Fill it.” MYSS teaches you a method where by using the
Internet, you can determine the demand of a product. Then by
setting up some simple tables in a spreadsheet or word processor you can
tell how plentiful or scarce a products availability is. I know it
sounds like a lot of work and frankly, it can be.
But in my
opinion, selling the RIGHT product is the single most important step in
building an HBWB on a solid foundation. I have colleges that I
have watched deftly market a product that they have fallen in love with
to an audience that
Doesn’t want
it, no matter how cool it is. Or…
There is so
much competition that the consumer is unlikely to buy from them just
based on the number of options that have.
Let me give you
an example. Let’s say that you want to sell DVD players on the
web. You figure It’s a cool product and everybody at your office
wants one! You can’t loose! Okay..
Go to Yahoo
Shopping and search for DVD Player. As of this writing there are
14,628 DVD players available for sale on Yahoo shopping alone.
Folks, you don’t have much of a chance in this market.
This is a very
basic example of Ken Evoys methodology of analysis. If you follow
his advice he would direct you to create keyword lists of potential
products that you care about and take to the search engines to determine
supply and demand of your product's). Once you’ve identified a
market that has a reasonable amount of demand and a reasonable amount of
competition, Ken will teach you to use the information that you have
researched to create your web pages that are full of relevant content in
order to help maximize search engine effectiveness.
Just think about
how cool of a process this is. Your testing markets without
spending a dime!
If you don’t have
a product and are not sure what you want to sell, you just apply his
methods and literally insure that you choose a product that has a good
chance of success. Once you know what this product is, you can
then source it with a drop shipper or become a reseller of an existing
web product via an affiliate program.
I wanted to
include an admission of my own here. Ken wasn’t the first author
that I used to start my HBWB, but the manner which his information is
organized really helped me to know where my own weakness were and how to
apply his information.
There is so much
usable content in Make Your Site Sell and it is so well fleshed out that
it actually allowed me to go back to some of my other marketing and HBWB
systems and re-apply the information that other authors taught, this
time, more effectively.
MYSS is just so
organized and linear in its approach to starting a HBWB from the ground
up. I was a little overwhelmed when I read about Ken’s methods of
analysis – I mean, there is a LOT of information to absorb. I
actually didn’t do anything with the system for a month. I was a
victim of paralysis by analysis! But once my brain absorbed it and
I hunkered down, the results actually made me giddy.
Audrey and I took
a second pass at the keywords and content on one of our websites and we
actually saw our search engine position go from low 40’s to under 10 for
a few months. Simply put, Ken Evoys methods of evaluating market
demand is worth (at least to us, in real dollars) 10 times the price of
his entire system. I’m not exaggerating. If you want to know
what to sell use MYSS to find out what consumers are looking for.
If that were the only facet of MYSS that you use, it would be money well
spent. Of course, the other 600 pages of material are pretty good,
too.

My Partner Audrey
read through “
Make Your Net Auctions Sell” in about 3 days. Pretty impressive
considering it’s over 600 pages long. Audrey is currently
composing a review of the material, but her initial reaction was “Hmmm….
So that’s how your supposed to do it…”
Keep in mind that
Audrey runs 3 e-commerce sites and has about 90 items up for auction on
any given day. She told me that she had used some of the
techniques in MYNAS before she had completed reading it. One result: On
average, Audrey's auctions now get around 250 unique visitors per sales
cycle. Not bad for items that have an average retail of $250.00.
Secondly, her successful auctions now include follow-up marketing and
response emails based on many of the suggestions she learned in MYNAS.
Keep in mind that Audrey is successful enough to not work for someone
else and run her stores and auctions full time. How Bout That!
Look for her
review in the next month or so. One side note: Ken Evoy did NOT
write Make You Net Auctions Sell.
Ken is updating
his software product called-Site Build It!
This COULD BE one of the most exciting for HBWB in a long-long time.
Site Built It has been around in its basic form for about a year.
I actually owned for a short time. Its premise is that it allows
you to create and host effective pre-sale and content rich web sites
based on Ken’s method.
The yummy part is
that he has incorporated automated Keyword Supply and Demand Tools as
well as a Keyword Brain Storming module to actually automate the process
of finding the right product. The program then helps to you create
Keyword friendly web pages and actually analyzes them for search engine
friendliness and submits them to a search engine. Jeez!
Now, the next
incarnation of Site-Build it is going to have a bunch more fun. It
will include an e-commerce module, mailing list generator,
auto-responders, and a slew of other goodies to make it a turnkey web
hosing solution.
Personally, I
didn’t need to use Site Build It to create my web sites. I am a
bit of a propeller head and wanted to kind of feel my through its
creation. But one thing I will say...I wish Ken would “UN-Bundle”
all of the Keyword tools and the analyzer from the
Site Build-it
software and sell it separately.
