How about that!?!?!

Not only did NONE of the smart pages that we created get ranked in Google, the site has been BANNED from their index!

Wow, was that Smart Page Generator ever a good purchase or what?!

#%#&#(#*@&@*&#@!!!!!!!!

Here’s the deal – We crawled the 8 major search engines looking for our chosen Smart Page Keywords AND the URL of the web site that we used to host our pages (www.a2-armory.com).

As I said, we couldn't find our Smart Page site anywhere, and with the exception of Alta Vista, we couldn’t even find our URL!!!!!

Blam!  Kapow!  Fitttzzzzzzz….puhhh!

Honestly, I thought I’d done something wrong.  I’m a terminally flawed human being, so I sought some wise counsel from a forum that I’m a member of.

Guess what I found?  The general consensus is that Smart Pages will now, on most of the major search engines, get your site BANNED automatically!

I realize that this newsletter is going to disappoint some people in a big way.  Trust me, I feel your pain.  I’m a little peeved, but, it was my decision to test them first, before I hosted them on a site that I truly care about.  Still, I feel dirty. Like I’ve been rooked.

And you know what?  It makes me both Angry and Relieved at the same time.

“Relieved?” you ask?  Yeah.  It means that hucksters can’t “Buy” their way to top search engine placement.  It means that you need to put real effort and research into your sites search engine optimization.  And that factor alone will eliminate 95% of your competition.

Why?  Because most people are Lazy.

Lets put a moral to this story.

The moral of the story is that you DO NOT have to be a propeller head and use fancy, trendy software to achieve good search engine rankings.  I use the word “Achieve” because that's what the process of competing in the search engines are; Achievement.

All you have to do is follow the rules – the tested, tried and true rules of search engine optimization, and you can achieve a good position and earn eager visitors.

The rules are simple: Ready?

  • Focus on Keywords that are Relevant to your product.

  • Create useful content that contains Keywords that are Relevant to your product.

  • Create a place that shoppers feel comfortable in because your site contains Relevant Content!

That’s it!  Honestly!  Yes – there are formulas for Keyword Density, but, you know what?  They actually make sense!  The going Keyword Density for highly ranked pages in Google right now is 10-12%.  That means if you have 300 words of content, the keywords that you want to be ranked well for should be on that page 30 to 36 times.  Between your Headlines, your body text, and your hyperlinks, this is not a hard thing to do.

And when you’re done doing it, if you look at that page you’ve created – it actually makes sense! The page “Feels” like is has just enough repetition of your chosen keywords to make the page seem logical and focused!

And that’s the genius of the system.  The folks who write the code for Google, Alta Vista, MSN, AOL and the half a dozen or so other search engines are trying to do one very admirable thing.

They’re trying to get their software to rank a site in their search engine accurately.

So, don’t try to trick them.  Tell them about your site with Good, Relevant Keywords – and they will reward you for their effort.

Resources

This is one of the 3 guides that I use for Search Engine Positioning.  It’s called

The Unfair Advantage to winning the Search Engine Wars.

This is where I find all of the current parameters that search engines are using to rank pages.  It’s the reason I know that Google is giving good ranks to pages that have a keyword density of up to 12%. And, it’s updated every month.

If I had to choose 3 Search Engine Optimization e-books with the condition that I could NEVER-EVER have another bit of information about search engines, The Unfair Advantage to Winning the Search Engine Wars would be my First Pick.

Take a look what this book is teaching!

But the real value of this material is the inclusion in their monthly newsletter.  You see, they update this book EVERY MONTH.  That means that when Google or MSN or AOL or any of the other major search engines change their criteria for ranking web pages, the book will get the new information, and you will have access to it.

It also comes with a 6 month membership to their private site, which I have to say, is just as valuable as the book is.

Take a look at their site, http://www.searchenginehelp.com, but remember - Getting a top search engine ranking is, and always will be about following the rules, and giving your customers what they want. Once you know what those rules are, you're on your way.

On last little update.

If you’re confused about how Merchant Accounts work, I’ve got good news!

The owner of the Advanced Credit Systems, Christine Phillips has written a little Merchant Account Primer for the me.  I still need to format it, but I should have it online no later than Sunday.  Just so you know, I recommend this company above and beyond all other Merchant Accounts that I’ve ever used, and I don't mind saying that I've used a bunch.  Her web site is at http://www.acs-cvp.com or you can call her at 1-800-814-3163.
