Get the Best Price for Their Products.
As a matter of fact, building your E-Commerce Business is something that’s going to be done in increments of Tens or, if your lucky Hundreds of dollars at a time. If you’re selling in a very competitive market, you margins are going to be razor thin, unless you know how to buy products at the right prices.
This is key!
Just like knowing what to sell is paramount to your success – having the right amount of profit from your sales is equally important! Sounds simple, but it’s a mistake made more often than it should be. You must always find the best price for the products that you’re selling!
Here’s the problem that most newbie E-Commerce Store Owners run into.
They start off doing business with a Wholesale or Drop Ship Company that they found on the web. They find a product that they know is in big demand and try to sell it. But they get creamed because their competition is selling the exact same product for less! Sometimes, a LOT less.
The Store Owner can’t figure out how their competition is selling their product for such a low price. They think “They can’t be making any money!” Frustrated, they give up and move onto something else.
And here’s the kicker-if they knew how to source that hot selling product the RIGHT WAY, they could have played in that In-Demand Market and made some real money.
Keep a few things in mind when you’re choosing a source for your products.
1. If you can find the source (Wholesaler or Drop Shipper) on the Web, your competition can find them, too. There is competition in just about any market you sell in, but if you’re not absolutely positive that you’re getting the best price, do some more source research! Don’t limit yourself to just Internet Wholesalers or Drop Shippers!
2. Be on the look out for Sub-Wholesalers! These are companies that purchase in bulk from real wholesalers, add a markup and then re-sell it to e-retailers like us.
The reason that they are so successful is because they are great marketers AND they are right under your nose! These are the sites that come up first when you type the word “Wholesaler” into a search engine.
Be warned - they usually don’t have the best price! I’ve seen a very prominent sub-wholesaler offer a line of products that was over 30% more expensive than the real wholesaler of the product.
But folks still use these companies because they are convenient and they wholesale In-Demand products! Sub-Wholesalers are smart, they tend to offer only the hottest selling products because they know that there are e-retailers out there looking for them.
In fact, they use the same methods for determining Supply and Demand that we teach our students to use in our System - they just apply it to the wholesale world.
The point is, you must do some research.
We are usually able to find at least 3 different sources for the same product when we are doing our research – minimum. We’ve actually found 30 for one particular product, all with a different price point.
If you’re going to invest the time to find an In-Demand Product, make sure that you can buy it at the right price. A few dollars in either direction can make the difference between a dud profit margin and a money-making best-seller.
